FATES OF MANKIND is a role-playing game for a recommended group of around four to five people. The game works around its own native D12 system and ruleset designed around it.The main setting around which this rulebook is woven is an alternate timeline of the first century BCE, an age in which Rome would be realizing she had been having a lot of fun in the latest centuries, toppled a few foreign powers here and there, but she is now an empire and she has to start acting more or less responsibly. If only people would stop starting civil wars.In this book, history has instead branched off a different path during the second century. The dominoes fall along separate lines as some events happen earlier or later, the wrong person is in the wrong place and ultimately speaking quite a lot happens differently. Human actions spawn what is known as the Cataclysm, a simultaneous cluster of events that exposes the human world to the other, the one that used to confine the gods and even nastier things.This is the mosaic of a world reshaped by war and magic, where spirits walk among men, where mankind is born with a seed of divine power, where mortals can aspire to become gods and gods can be killed, where the skies can be opened to conjure thunder and where the myths of old walk the earth. In the middle of it all stands the Player’s character, equipped with nothing but their own resources, their skills, their wits, their blade and their innate magic.There are creatures and demons out there who may think it is all a bit unfair, all things considered.
